All is well

Watching Pathaan in a theatre is like going to a stadium for an IPL game — the end result does not matter; you are there for the experience. Over the years, SRK has been a companion. And you want him to do well just as you wanted Sachin, or now Virat, to get that hundred. When they do well, you feel ‘all is well’.

Love vs Hate

The Legend of Shah Rukh Khan has just grown exponentially because of Pathaan. He has risen from the ashes and made people across the nation feel zinda! Yes, it’s an action movie, but the overarching message is: love > hate.

Nostalgia ProMax

Experiencing SRK and Salman in the same frame is like being drenched in nostalgia. Their scenes take you to your childhood, where things were simpler, stress-free, and joyous. It’s like visiting your happy place.

Bollywood Marvel

Pathaan is like a hindi-language Marvel movie; it follows their template. There is definitely a Captain America (SRK) vs Winter Soldier (John) vibe to it. The story is surface-level, featuring clearly distinguished good guys and bad guys, and a few plot twists thrown in the mix to keep things interesting. It has the superheroes and the super stunts, which land on most occasions.

Flawed yet beautiful

This movie has its flaws. But somehow, the euphoria of SRK being back and the fact that the team has put in genuine effort and not sleepwalked through the film makes the flaws digestible to an extent. The beauty glosses over obvious mistakes; you know they are there, but you choose to look the other way because this is so much more than just a movie.

The movies

Pathaan reminded me that the theatre experience is not just for spectacle cinema, it is also for you to switch off from your life temporarily, which is not entirely possible with OTT, and enter another dimension. The lights dim, a portal opens, and picture shuru!
